The researcher-led workstream welcomes outline proposals on topics or research questions identified by researchers within the programme's remit.

The deadline for applications for the current call is 1pm on 25 April 2014.

Advance notice of Board and Panel opportunities

Later this month the NIHR will be advertising a number of opportunities on programme boards and panels. These groups prioritise research questions for NIHR commissioning and make funding recommendations on project applications.

Applications are expected to open from 24 March 2014 and will be open for several weeks. Further details and application forms will be posted online from the opening date.

NIHR launches "Focus on Stroke" as ground-breaking stroke trial opens in the UK

EuroHYP-1, the largest worldwide clinical trial of a new revolutionary stroke treatment called Therapeutic Hypothermia, is due to open in the UK. The study is just one of those featured on "Focus on Stroke", a new online resource from the NIHR aimed at raising public awareness of the exciting developments happening in stroke research.

New survey launches to help identify mesothelioma treatment uncertainties

An important survey has launched that will help to inform future research into mesothelioma diagnosis, treatments and care. This is part of a project being carried out by an NIHR-funded 'Priority Setting Partnership' (PSP) recently set up by the James Lind Alliance (JLA). The survey gives patients, carers and family members affected by the disease an opportunity to identify and prioritise unanswered questions about mesothelioma.
