HSRC Clinical Research Fellow Appointments
We are delighted to announce that the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia's Health Services Research Centre (NIAA HSRC), in conjunction with the UCLH Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe), the London Clinic and Princess Grace Hospital, recently appointed five clinical research fellows to support the work of the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA), the second Sprint National Anaesthesia Project (SNAP-2) and the Perioperative Quality Improvement Programme (PQIP). Each of these posts is linked to a clinical commitment to the critical care unit at either the London Clinic or the Princess Grace Hospital.
NAP6
NAP6 will examine perioperative anaphylaxis. A baseline survey will be carried out in November 2015 and data collection will also start in November 2015. For more information please see the NAP6 website.
Funding Opportunities
AAGBI/Anaesthesia Research Grants
The AAGBI and Anaesthesia will be awarding research grants in September 2015. Priority will be given to proposals that support the AAGBI's research aims. To have a chance of being successful, applications for AAGBI funding must clearly demonstrate how the proposed project meets the aims, as well as providing value for money.

Small RCoA grants
Details of the small RCoA education, travel and research grants available this year are now available. Please click here for further information. Applications are also invited for the Macintosh Professorship, the Maurice Hudson Prize and the Payne Stafford Tan Award. The deadline for all these awards is 5 pm on Friday 28 August 2015.

BJA/NIAA Research Methodology Workshop: Tuesday 30 June 2015
A joint workshop run by the British Journal of Anaesthesia and the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia to introduce participants to the way in which good research should be conducted and presented.
This workshop will be useful for anaesthetists of any grade who are already involved in research or those who are about to embark on a research project.

Opportunities in Genomic Medicine for NHS employees
The University of Cambridge have developed a multi-disciplinary course in genomics that can be applied to clinical practice and medical research leading to a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Master's Degree in Genomic Medicine.
Health Education England (HEE) are keen to educate medical and science professionals, in particular NHS healthcare professionals from across the multi-professional team, to prepare for the future adoption of genomic technologies and the increasing use of genomic information as part of the diagnostic and treatment pathway.
As a result, HEE have announced that they will be providing funding for NHS employees who make a successful application to the course.
Applications close on 30th June 2015, with the first students starting in October of this year. Individual modules of the course will be available to NHS employees wanting to undertake CPD in due course.
