POMCTN Vacancy: Deputy Director

POMCTN 2019 Stack

The UK Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network (POMCTN) was established in 2015 as a national network to support world-class multi-centre trials from idea to publication and dissemination.

The POMCTN is now recruiting a new Deputy Director since previous Deputy Dr Joyce Yeung was recently appointed as the Network's Director.

The main role of the Deputy Director is to support the Director in delivering all aspects of the Network's activities, including the successful delivery of all Network-led clinical trials, working closely with Chief Investigators to ensure that trials are well supported, as well as leading and developing the strategy of the Network.

The post-holder will be expected to help develop our national network of hospitals and investigators to recruit to trials and implement a transparent and robust process for identifying and selecting studies to be considered by the CTN. They will also need to engage the appropriate stakeholders in the project and work effectively with the NIAA and its founding and funding partners and trainee research networks.

The POMCTN is a collaborative national network of active local and principal investigators who are running clinical trials recruiting NHS patients. The Deputy Director will have appropriate skills and qualifications including direct experience in leading large clinical trials, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills to effectively chair meetings and events.

This is a 3 year fixed term appointment, subject to annual review. The post doesn't currently attract any PA backfill. We are currently seeking external funding renewal for 0.5 PA backfill for the post, but this is not guaranteed. The post can be renewed for one additional term to a maximum of six years.
